The ANC Must Leverage Effective Expert Advice

Going through the DA’s website we could see how they have a lot of information about the status of the country and also a track record of what they’ve done for the country as well as their goals.

It would really help if the ANC was this transparent on their website, especially in reporting their track record of what they’ve done for the country. A vision falls flat if goals are not met. The ANC needs to be goal-oriented to achieve success.

Also, we came across this video, Fixing the Electricity Crisis, on the DA’s website and it was frightening how much they are getting done in their jurisdictions compared to the ANC.

We think that the ANC should also be leveraging subject matter experts at the same capacity as the DA, to make the necessary changes to stabilize the country. It does not hurt to learn from the white man and use it to your advantage making it fit your culture.

The DA has become a modern and efficient party, already going green in compliance with the UN, but the ANC is still riding the wave of freedom from apartheid to get its votes. People are starting to go hungry and will soon realize that they need a party that gets things done.

The ANC is a strong symbol of freedom which is the legacy of this country. People still support it because of its core values and beliefs and how they’ve given a better life to many poor people which resonates with the majority of South Africans. Most of them will always vote for the ANC in hopes that they will reform themselves even as the country falls apart. This level of loyalty is rooted in the country’s history with the apartheid regime and the struggle for liberation of which the ANC was a pioneer.

The ANC does not seem to know what to do at this point, as the world suffers crisis after crisis. Everyone is blaming them for corruption and incompetence but we think although some of this may be true, they are also simply overwhelmed and need the right guidance.

Following is a statement from the “ANC Professionals’ League” (Hadebe, 2018) who the ANC has rejected because they do not recognize them:

“On the other hand, when serious policy discussions are conducted, you find the ANC
scrapping for “progressive academics and subject matter experts”, who often hold no
membership with the organization and have to be trusted at face-value. This was
certainly the case at the recently held land summit. It is rather unfortunate that we would allow the organizational direction on a matter as intricate as the land issue to be driven by some independent experts whose allegiance cannot really be confirmed. The ANC must consolidate a highly educated internal intelligentsia through its own ANC Professionals’ League to drive policy direction.”

If the ANC does not want it’s own intelligentsia, they must strike a relationship with external subject matter experts who will advice them in every aspect of governance to reform them and help them function better while maintaining their culture. If they already are getting this assistance it does not show because it does not appear that much has been done this year, especially in renewables, except that nearly one million jobs were created in 1 year under their leadership.

In this instance it really does seem like they do not know what they are doing. They are forever setting goals but not achieving them. An effective subject matter expert would give them the details on HOW to achieve specific goals and point them to the right resources.
